Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs by Department

The minor in Medical Humanities is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on the intersection of the arts, humanities (history, philosophy, ethics, and religion), and health sciences. The minor will equip aspiring health professionals with skills in effective communication, empathy, self-reflection, and an understanding of the sociocultural-historical contexts and belief systems that shape perceptions about medical conditions, treatments, and the people affected by them. The minor in Medical Humanities will strengthen students’ applications to medical school or any other health care graduate program. The Medical Humanities have been described as “the future of pre-health education.”

Total Required Hours: 18
