Occupational Therapy Assistant, AAS

The occupational therapy assistant (OTA) is a technically educated health provider who assists the occupational therapist in the provision of occupational therapy and contributes to the occupational therapy process through collaboration with the supervising occupational therapist.  The Occupational Therapy Assistant program provides the educational requirements necessary to sit for the OTA board exam and gain certification and licensure as an occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L).

First Year Making Connections Course:


Course may be waived if transferring to A-State with 13 or more post-high school credits.

General Education Requirements:

All general education courses listed in the bulletin must be completed with a course grade of a B or higher in order to be accepted into the OTA program and complete the AAS degree.

Required Support Courses:


Students must take PSY 2013 and EITHER PSY 2133 or PSY 2233. All Required Support Courses must be completed with a course grade of B or higher in order to be accepted into the OTA program and complete the AAS degree.
