Required Progression of Courses

Students must maintain a “C” or higher in all required nursing courses in order to progress.  See Nursing Student Handbook for BSN grading scale.

In addition, students will not be eligible to progress in the traditional BSN program option in the following instances:

  • if the student withdraws from a nursing course to avoid a failing grade (D or F)
  • if a student has not completed all required science courses with a “C” or higher prior to the start of the third semester in the program*
  • if a student has not completed PSY 2013-Introduction to Psychology or an equivalent course with a “C” or higher by the start of the third semester in the program
  • if a student has not completed a 3-credit hour statistics course (2000 level or higher) with a grade of “C” or higher by the start of the fourth semester in the program.

*If a student admitted to the program in January has completed all science courses prior to the third semester but has a “D” or “F” in a single science course and/or the corresponding lab course, the student will be granted the third semester in the program to attempt the course again. However, if a “C” or higher is not achieved on the second attempt of the course, the student shall not progress until which time the student has earned a “C” or higher in all required science courses.

Students should consult with their assigned academic advisor each semester to ensure course progression requirements are met.
